A late goal from midfielder Tom Beere salvaged a point for the Millers as their push for the play offs suffered another set back against struggling Hastings at the Artic stadium. Beere was unmarked when he run onto a deep cross from left back Tom Chambers to strike a sweet volley past Louis Rogers in the U’s goal.

The first half was pretty non- descriptive as neither side managed to muster a shot on target. The visitors had the best opportunity when Davide Rodari went clear but despite beating keeper Max Ovenden his tame lob went wide of the upright.

Valley started the second half with more purpose but despite have the majority of possession struggled to break down a resolute Hastings rearguard. Against the run of play, Hastings broke the deadlock in the 58 minute when Tanner Dogan was on hand to smash the ball low past Ovenden from just outside the ox through a crowded penalty area. Millers manager Steve McKimm responded by making three substitutions and the changes contributed towards the fight back. Beere equalised in the 83 minute with his third goal in as many games and two minutes later they almost snatched a victory when Andre Coker latched onto a long clearance but his low shot was well saved by Rogers and the follow up by Adam Coombs was deflected agonisingly wide.
