STALEMATE AT THE ARTIC
PITCHING-IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
CRAY VALLEY (PM) 0 LEWES 0 - 4 FEBRUARY 2025 - ATT 413
It finished goalless at the Artic Stadium, the Millers third clean sheet in four games, the draw saw them drop to 5th place in the table with just one point separating the top five. A win would have taken them top on the night.
It was Lewes who came closet to breaking the deadlock early on with Millers keeper Harrison Chamberlain called into action on a couple of occasions to make vital saves. Dan Bowry had the best chance for the Millers after latching on to a Freddie Parker knock down but blasted over from close range.
The Millers had more of the play after the interval but rarely troubled Toby Bull in the Lewes goal, their shots either off target or blocked by the defence who remained on top at both ends. Not the best spectacle for the 413 who took advantage of free entry and a draw was probably a fair result with neither side doing enough to win the game.
Next up is another home game here at the Artic Stadium against Hendon on Saturday.

The Preston Perspective !!!
"The Lewes Lament"
Cray Valley PM 0 - 0 Lewes
The Millers v The Rooks
Att : 413
Entry : Free
This wasn't so much daylight robbery as twilight rookery as Lewes came to park the bus and run the clock down ; and the Millers just couldn't break through to force a checkmate.
On another day, some of the training ground clever set-pieces from free-kicks would have worked and beaten the 'keeper ; but not tonight.
On another day, some of the attempted intricate inter-play would have worked, set players free and we'd have had a shot-fest .... but not tonight.
On another day, the referee would have given a penalty after Freddy Parker was unceremoniously pulled to the ground when he'd beaten the last defender midway through the first half ....... but not tonight.
And on another day, another penalty would surely have been awarded in the second half after Dan Bowry had has legs taken from under him in the box ......... but not tonight
It was just that type of game
After a promising opening with both Kiki Oshilaja and Kenny Aileru going agonisingly close to getting us off the mark, I thought we would possibly be 2 or 3 up by half-time ....... but after those early chances, it all petered out into a frustrating spectacle where for all the effort and endeavour, the end product was just not quite there we've all been in football long enough to know that's just how it can be play out sometimes.
The visitors offered very little in the way of attacking intent and were clearly spoiling for a goalless draw , hoping perhaps to nick one on the break if the chance arose, but their forwards hardly saw any of the ball, and what little they did get was fairly effectively snuffed out by the Millers defence which will at least be cheered with the clean sheet.
The second 45 saw the Millers continue to boss possesion without really carving out too much in the way of clear chances to the degree that the most the visiting 'keeper really had to do was bust his lungs bawling at the linesman which proved annoyingly effective. Quite how we hardly pressured him was baffling ; Marcel Barrington was a bundle of energy all night, Freddy Parker was trying to run through walls all night, and Barney Williams tried to forage forward and mix things up a bit, but as I stated earlier, it just didn't gel or click tonight for The Millers
So, we'll be grateful for the clean sheet, we'll take the point, and move on to Saturday's game hoping for a sllghtly better rub of the green for the green army !!!!
